The Affordable Care Act regulations and guidelines increased premiums for the best Independence Blue Cross (IBC) plan by 30%. This resulted in a premium of over $540,000 for approximately 24 employees, 10 single and 14 with dependents.
We structured a health reimbursement agreement that included self-funding options through the Min-Max planning technique.
We provided the same contract using the Bronze PPO HSA – $5,600 deductible, 50% co-insurance, $7,500 out-of-pocket maximum per single enrolled, and double for employees with dependents. The results:
- The Premium: $316,000
- HRA reimbursement: $75,000
- Total healthcare cost: $391,000
- Included HSA Bronze and 100% reimbursement of eligible expenses
